This is my page of miscellaneous projects and websites and things. A catch-all for non-music, non-photography type stuff.
Programming Projects:
A program that automatically writes html, css, and javascript to display google photos albums as columnar collages on neocities.
Useful for helping to skirt the unpaid webpage size maximum or for creating webpages of only photos, like my Photo Archive.
Websites (Transit):
A track map for every rail service operating inside New York City. Includes Amtrak, LIRR, MNR, SI Railway, H-B Light Rail, PATH, and all New York City Subway services.
A live map of NYC Subway Services. Includes arrival times, service changes, and accessibility information.
A map of free public restrooms across New York City. Separated into public, book store, coffee shop, hotel, fast food, and other categories.
A pdf map of NICE Bus routes for Nassau County.
Fourm post about NYC Subway track grades. Good read, but the final answer is:
Williamsburg Bridge - Tracks J1 & J2, from station 73+45 to station 77+35 (390 ft) : 5.5%
Manhattan Bridge - Track H2, from station 287+35 to station 278+07 (928 ft) : 5.4%
Steinway Tubes - from station 88+94 to station 101+99 (1305 ft) : 4.5%
60th Street Tubes - from station 102+12 to station 109+97 (787 ft) : 4.37%
Contains Lirr and Subway archives on a broad range of topics. Some of my favourites include:
R-44 Subway Car - Set a speed record of 87.75mph when it was tested on the LIRR Mainline between Woodside and Jamaica.
LIRR Slang - Database of LIRR terminology and slang throughout time.
A brief page detaling the typographical history of MTA maps and advertisements.
A map of NYC neighborhoods based on a large survey that asked New Yorkers on each block what neighborhood they considered themselves a part of.
A list of store bathroom codes in brooklyn, manhattan, queens, and a few other cities.
Websites (Horticulture):
A partnership of various organizations and universities to create online search tools for plant identification and information. Links to partner websites for different plant atlases.
- Atlas of Florida Plants
- New York Flora Atlas
- Alabama Plant Atlas
- Indiana Plant Atlas
- Tennessee-Kentucky Plant Atlas
Tons of great info about wildflowers with some choice articles, such as:
- What are Mycotrophic Wildflowers?
- Index of Rare Plants
Plant database created by the Royal Botanic Gardens. Really great for images and pressings of rare plants. Also good for identifying specific varietals of a plant.
Websites (Uncategorized):
Live audio feeds of every openly broadcast emergency service in New York City.
I am partial to the NYPD Special Operations Unit Feed. Typically the most interesting cross-precinct stuff.
Reviews and absurdly detailed images and information on a wide variety of films. So deeply unpleasant a website to navigate that its charm increases.
A collection of interesting stuff. They find wildness.
Prints & Photographs Online Catalog for the Library Of Congress.
Great, free to use ai image upscaler. Entire page is in Mandarin.
Thorough and detailed explanations of different automotive techniques and technology.
Daily list of all film showings and art exhibitions in NYC and the SF Bay Area
